October 24, 2001 Langdon guard Katie Lorenz is considered the top girls basketball prospect in the state. She has point-guard skills that coaches love.She has narrowed her collegiate choice to two: NDSU and UND. Which will it be? Tough call. Langdon coach Gary Schauer, who's been in the business 28 years, calls Lorenz the best passer he's ever coached. That's saying something. It's a probable bet the Lorenz will have a good chance of stepping into either team's starting lineup. Most NCC teams have good shooters; not all have good ballhandlers. If you're going to contend for a league title and a region championships, it starts with having somebody who can bring the ball upcourt. NDSU and UND know that. |
