October 18, 2001 The fact Wahpeton edged Fargo North 20-19 Wednesday night was no surprise. The Huskies are our darkhorse choice to win a state Class AAA title.The Wahpeton victory sent North on the road to Dickinson for the first round of the playoffs. That makes it a long haul for the defending champions. Sound familiar? It's essentially the same team that barely made the playoffs last year and then put the pedal to the medal. There's no question North was the best team at the end of the season. The one difference is the Spartans entered the playoffs on a winning streak. This year, they enter on a losing note. Repeating is tough enough. Having to travel across the state after losing a game makes it double tough. |
